PROFILE

Muniru Shaibu Alidu is an Engineering Practitioner with the Thermal Generation Department of the Volta River Authority (VRA). He previously worked with the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) as an Electrical Engineering Technologist.

Muniru obtained his Secondary School Certificate at the Tamale Senior High School in 1996. He later acquired a Higher National Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering from Accra Polytechnic now Accra Technical University (ATU) in 2001. After some years of his carrier in the field of Electrical Engineering, he pursued further studies in his field and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and a Master’s Degree in Occupational Safety and Health Risk Management (MOSHRM) from the Open University, Malaysia (OUM).

Muniru’s over two decades of experience as an electrical engineering professional is combined with social and community service. He has served on various committees of the Ghana Academy of Muslim Professionals (GAMP) since 2002 and is now serving his second term as a General Secretary of GAMP. He is the founder and proprietor of Premier Care Academy located at New Dawhenya in the Ningo-Prampram District of the Greater Accra Region.

Muniru is a member of the Institution of Engineering & Technology, Ghana (IET) and the Ghana Institution of Engineering (GhIE). He has served on the Publications and ICT & Library Committees of GhIE. He has attended a lot of professional training, seminars, workshops, conferences and international training on ‘Latest Trends in Thermal Power Generation at the Central Institute of Rural Electrification (CIRE)’, Hyderabad-India, under the SCAAP/ITEC Scholarship Programme in 2017. He is married with four children.
